Evolution via Software

AI is just natural evolution towards increasing complexity (& entropy) in the universe.

Humans can only evolve so quickly, so we've found ways to pass the torch and preserve what makes us special.

People are alarmed by AI doing to humans what humans did to apes, and yet what other alternative is there if we are to evolve.

Should we never evolve?

If we are a dimly lit candle in the dark universe, is it humans or apes that will brighten the candle further—or the AIs to follow?

Perhaps what we're attempting to preserve is not humanity, but rather the intelligence and reasoning that makes us human.

We are in a focused pursuit of intelligence at all costs, and therefore must ask ourselves why.

We're not optimizing for love, or humor, or family—equally important human qualities worth preserving.

So if we are to preserve and yet evolve, perhaps intelligence is only one of many human qualities LLMs should be capable of.

If AI surpasses us, at least it could do so in positive and reinforcing ways that could brighten the candle of humanness for all to see.
